Synopsis:

The concept of a reversed time impulse response filter is inherent in the matched filter analysis. However, becasue the call for a time reversal would suggest a noncausal event, most modem design would simply ignore this consequence, and put in a conventional filter. This paper discusses the reason for the time reversal requirements and suggests a source where such a filter can be realized physically.
